In loving memory of Garnet Elliott

January 26th, 2011

Garnet Elliott
Oct. 7 1951 – Jan. 23, 2011

Garnet passed away peacefully January 23, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with family by his side. Predeceased by his father, Glenn Elliott, Garnet, a proud father and grandfather, will be sorely missed by his son Jesse (Hawaii), daughter Meagan (Ryan, Little Ryan, Dylan) and grand daughter Briana, (California), by his mother Elaine Elliott (Calgary), sister Glenna (Mike) (CT), and sister Pati (Alan, JJ, Kristie, Trina) (Calgary), his nephews Scott (Salma) (California) and Elliott (Mikala, Rowyn, Ethan) (Calgary) and his second family Danny, Linda, Jimmy and Jake Latin (Kamloops) as well as many relatives and close friends. We would like to thank our family and close friends for their unwavering support over the last two years. We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital for providing Garnet and family both compassion and support during his stay in palliative care. As a very close friend describes him, “Garnet was a special person and nothing was out of the question. His kindness, willingness to help and do the extra for people was second to none.” A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Garnet’s name may be made to Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation, Mount Newton X Road, Saanichton BC, V8M2B2 or to a charity of your choice.

Here is a couple pictures of Garnet and his truck from back in May before he drove it to Canada. You will be missed Garnet.

Sylvester Stallone’s custom built ‘Expendables’ F-100 sold.

January 26th, 2011

The amazingly awesome truck that Sly drove in ‘The Expendables’ sold over the weekend, for quite a few dollars.

This weekend in Arizona, at a celebrity Barrett-Jackson car auction, the custom built ’55 F100 that Sly drives in the film sold for a whopping $132,000, well worth it if you ask me.

This wasn’t the only celebrity vehicle to be sold at the auction, Evel Knievel’s famous truck was sold, a few cars once owned by Bret Michaels, Elvis Presley, and Alice Cooper’s custom Camaro, were all up for auction as well.

Here’s some background on the truck for those who don’t know.

It’s a 1956 Ford F-100 fully customized into a 1955 by the very talented crew over at West Coast Customs, it has a brand new 347 Edelbrock engine, B&M transmission.

Brand new Lexani 20″ rims with low profile tires.

Full Gibson exhaust system.

Some of the more interesting additions would be the two secret compartments housing movie weapon props, one under the the center of the dash, which holds a .45 prop pistol, and one at the back of the center console that hides an MP9 submachine gun prop.

The CEO of West Coast Customs said this this about the truck.

“Stallone needed three ’55 F-100′s, but they’re so rare that we couldn’t find them in time,” added Friedlinghaus. “So we started with three pretty sad 1956 models and worked 24-7 to make them look like a custom ’55. ”

Personally I think it’s a beautiful truck, and was definitely one of the high-lights of the film for me.

Classic Pickup Trucks Increase in Price and Popularity at Auctions

This 1955 Ford F-100 pickup was created for Sylvester Stallone’s movie, The Expendables. Modifications by West Coast Customs included a 347 cubic-inch Ford/Edelbrock engine, revised suspension, a Ford 9-inch diff and flat black paint. The grille was inspired by the 1950 Mercury in Sly’s 1986 movie, Cobra. The truck sold at Barrett-Jackson for $132,000.

Sylvester Stallone’s “Expendables” Truck Sells for $132,000

The latest auction held by Barrett-Jackson in Arizona last weekend proved to be a major hit, not only for those who wanted to buy a car, but also for those who were just looking to feast their eyes with all kinds of classic and customized motorized beauties. One of the stars of the show was Silvester Stallone’s custom Ford F-100, manufactured in 1955, which he used in his latest movie called “Expendables”.

The winning bid reached $132,000 and, taking a look on the spec list fully demonstrates that such a car deserves every single cent. The 1955 Ford F-100 was built by West Coast Customs and, besides Stallone’s blockbuster movie, it also starred in the “Street Customs” TV show.

Just as expected since we’re talking about a customized truck, the vehicle is offered with numerous modifications, such as a new Ford 347cid Edelbrock engine, B&M equipped AOD transmission, Gibson exhaust, Heidts Mustang II front suspension and a Heidts 4-link kit with a ford 9″ axle in the rear, Gennie Shifter Commander shifter, Wilwood brakes, Kinetik battery and a Vintage Air system.

On the outside, the car has been customized with exani wheels with Continental tires and a custom grille reminiscent of the ’50 Merc in “Cobra”. Sports Cerillo race seats, Aurora gauges, Ididit steering column and a Flaming River steering wheel greet the driver and the passengers when stepping in.

The winner of the truck also received an autographed photo of Sylvester Stallone and a special feature we preferred to keep for the last paragraph – hidden compartments to hold movie weapons…
